A typical home can fluctuate by more than 20 or 30 degrees (if heating or cooling is switched off during a holiday period, for example), and it is this temperature fluctuation that is detrimental to wine. 

A standard refrigerator is designed to preserve food, not wine. Its very cold temperatures and dry air can significantly affect the ageing process, dry out corks and compromise its flavour over time. 

A EuroCave wine cabinet recreates the conditions of a natural wine cellar so wine can mature gracefully, exactly as the winemaker intended.

Rather than simply cooling wine, EuroCave recreates the precise conditions of a natural wine cellar through exceptional engineering, patented innovations, premium craftsmanship and elegant design. 

All wine – red, white, rosé and sparkling – should be stored under these same conditions: 

• A stable temperature of around 12-14°C 

• Humidity between approximately 65-75%, to keep corks moist and prevent oxidation.

Choosing the right wine cabinet depends on four key considerations. 

Purpose – Are you looking to age and protect your collection, keep wines ready to serve, or create a beautiful display within your home? 

Collection size – Think beyond the bottles you own today. Most collections continue to grow, so selecting a cabinet with additional capacity is often a wise long-term investment. 

Location – Will the cabinet be integrated into kitchen joinery, installed in a butler’s pantry, wine room or living area? EuroCave offers freestanding, integrated and joinery-ready solutions to suit a variety of spaces.

Most collectors choose a large single temperature model, set at 14 degrees to cellar and protect their collection long term. For entertaining, small, under bench multiple temperature model allows – all wine varietals to be enjoyed at their ideal drinking temperature. 

Single temperature models:

• Set to 14 degrees for long term cellaring 

• Set to 8 degrees to keep your whites at ready to drink temperature 

• Set to 18 degrees to keep your reds at ready to drink temperature 

Dual or three temperature models 

• Set the ‘whites’ zone at 8 degrees to keep your whites at drinking temperature 

• Set the ‘reds’ zone at 18 degrees to keep your reds at drinking temperature 

• Set the ‘cellaring’ zone at 14 degrees for bottles you want to cellar, or to keep your lighter bodied reds (eg. Pinot) at drinking temperature 

Multiple temperature models 

EuroCave wine cabinet provides a ‘gradation’ of temperature from the bottom shelf (coldest), to the top shelf, all in the ONE zone. This allows all wine varietals to be served at their ideal drinking temperature so all wines are ready to enjoy. Perfect for the entertainer. 

Below shows the difference between cellaring temperature and ideal drinking temperature, and where to place your wine inside a multiple temperature model. 

Cabernet / Shiraz: 18°C drinking temperature → top shelf/shelves

Pinot Noir: 14°C → middle section

Chardonnay: 10°C → middle section

Sauvignon Blanc: 8°C → middle section

Champagne: 6°C → bottom shelf/shelves

Wine collectors want to fit as many bottles as possible in their wine cabinet. It is important to note that ‘maximum bottle capacity’ often assumes minimal shelves and that only the thinnest Bordeaux bottles are used. 

So, technically speaking, you could fit 234 bottles inside a La Premiere, Pure or Revelation wine cabinet, BUT only if Bordeaux bottles are used, and only if they are stacked on only three separate storage shelves. 

If you prefer to have full shelving so you can easily access every bottle, and assuming you only use Bordeaux bottles, you will be able to store 182 bottles in your EuroCave. 

In reality, most collections include various bottle shapes (Chardonnay, Riesling, etc), so with full shelving, you will be able to realistically store about 165 bottles inside your EuroCave.  

Yes. Unlike many other wine cabinets that only cater for Bordeaux bottles, EuroCave shelving is designed to accommodate virtually every bottle shape found in Australian collections, including Burgundy, Riesling, standard Champagne, and magnums. This maximises bottle capacity, ensures every bottle is easy to access, and prevents label damage. 

EuroCave’s iconic and patented Main du Sommelier bottle supports secure each bottle on each shelf. These bottle supports can gently glide sideways to accommodate thinner or wider bottles, which, in turn, maximises bottle capacity. 

Shelves slide in and out effortlessly for easy access to every bottle, and can be configured to ‘label forward’ presentation. 

Select models also feature beautifully crafted timber shelves and luxurious Italian leather finishes, combining exceptional functionality with refined design. 

Yes, for bottles under cork, storing them horizontally, or at an angle, keeps the cork in contact with the wine, helping it remain moist and maintain an airtight seal. In turn, this prevents the wine from becoming oxidized. 

EuroCave shelves are specifically designed to keep bottles correctly positioned.  

Absolutely. Champagne and sparkling wines require the same stable cellaring conditions as still wines.

Getting started is simple.

Once your cabinet has been delivered:

• 1) Position the cabinet on a level surface in a well ventilated location.
• 2) Plug into a PowerPoint and turn on at the PowerPoint only!
• 3) Allow the cabinet to stand for 48 hours after transport, before switching it on.
• 4) In the meantime, remove the door stopper and transportation locks supporting each shelf
• 5) Install the supplied charcoal filter
• 6) Fill the cabinet from the bottom shelf upwards, distributing bottles evenly.
• 7) 48 hours after delivery, turn on your EuroCave wine cabinet and set the temperature to 14°C for long term wine storage.
• 8) Register your warranty

EuroCave cabinets require very little routine maintenance. Keeping ventilation unobstructed, replacing the charcoal filter annually and occasionally cleaning the interior, condenser and grills will help ensure optimum performance for many years.

Charcoal filters can be ordered directly through our Customer Care team or directly from MacPhee’s Wine Cellaring Specialists, ensuring you receive a genuine EuroCave replacement part.

Replacing the charcoal filter is quick and simple, and helps maintain fresh, filtered airflow essential within your EuroCave cabinet.  For optimum air quality and wine preservation, we recommend replacing the charcoal filter approximately every 12 months.

To replace the filter, please explore this tutorial video (a video tells a thousand words). Alternatively, here are simple instructions:

1. Open the cabinet door.
2. Remove wine bottles from the top shelf
3. Locate the charcoal filter at the back panel of your wine cabinet, at the top, left hand side (refer to your User Manual if required).
4. Remove the existing filter by gently pulling it from its housing.
5. Insert the new EuroCave charcoal filter into the same position, ensuring it is securely fitted.
6. Reset the digital countdown
7. Close the cabinet door and continue enjoying optimal wine storage conditions.
